Refurbishment of technical center floor
After the building was extended around two years ago, the total area of 270 m2 consists of an old and a new concrete floor. The existing floor coating suffered from insufficient adhesion and a lack of impact resistance, which was causing partial delamination. “The main requirements for this refurbishment project were fast return to service due to short lead-time production and full utilization of the technical center. But furthermore, high aesthetics combined with easy-to-clean properties of the floor square are crucial for an area with external visitors,” emphasized Olivier Vasseur, the former plant manager at the technical center.
Fast return to service
Every downtime day at the technical center delays important production batches for application tests or customers trials of the Elastomers team. A conventional three-coat system requires five days downtime in view of the normal curing time. With Pasquick®-based Kryptanate 100 from Krypton Chemical it was possible to reinstall the machines on the third day. “The Pasquick® technology is perfectly suited to meeting the requirements of minimal construction site downtime without any concession to performance or handling,” said Alain Brosset, general manager of Europe Resine.
Aesthetics and easy to clean
Beside the tight time frame for this project, a coating system with high aesthetics was required as a lot of customers visit the technical center. After application of the Pasquick®-based gray-pigmented Kryptanate 100 basecoat, the square was sprinkled with flakes in black, gray and white to provide an appealing natural stone look. The subsequent Pasquick®-based Kryptanate 100 clear topcoat layer ensures the necessary durability and easy-to-clean properties for the floor.
By using the high-performance Krypton Chemical coating system based on Pasquick® technology, the technical center management has minimized the downtime as much as possible and ensured that the refurbished floor will maintain its appealing look for many years to come.
